Drydock, inspection & technical support

Beyond individual repairs, owners and managers need inspections, docking tasks, procurement and onboard work to fit together. Discuss the personnel and technical support required for a port call, voyage or drydocking programme.

Pre-dock preparation and docking assistance

Enquiries can cover onboard assistance before docking to finalise repair specifications, together with thermography and vibration-check requirements. Drydocking brokering includes contract and settlement assistance, with scope and responsibilities agreed in advance.

Retrofit support may involve planning, procurement, installation or supervision, as a combined package or a defined part of the work. Listed areas include MEWIS Duct, PBCF and VFD installations, and hatch-cover repair supervision during docking. Equipment suitability and project requirements need separate confirmation.

Condition, damage and pre-purchase inspections

The scope includes vessel-condition inspections, damage surveys and sale-and-purchase or pre-purchase inspections, with reports addressing the agreed work. State the report purpose, available access and technical records to distinguish routine condition information, damage assessment and transaction-related inspection.

Responsibilities, reporting content and involvement of any required organisation should be clear before appointment. A service description does not establish that the work replaces a class, flag or other specifically appointed survey.

Electrical, automation and hydraulic support

  • Electrical fault investigation; IMCOS / MRC, automation, remote control and switchboard requirements.
  • Main-engine automation and pneumatic systems, Alfa lubricators and AC breaker enquiries.
  • Hydraulic issues involving steering gear, ship cranes, hatch covers, windlasses and controllable-pitch propellers.
  • Motor rewinding and generator repair, confirmed separately or with machinery repairs and spares.

Cruise, offshore and safety-equipment work

Cruise requirements may include instrument calibration, water analysis, and hotel and technical supplies. Offshore enquiries may concern platforms and wind projects, with personnel and working conditions assessed for each project.

Portable or fixed firefighting and lifesaving systems may require spares, testing or recharging support. Confirm the equipment, service credentials and reporting before arrangements are made; distinguish supply of goods from attendance and physical work.

Define the task and required outputs

Contact tech@grand-ocean.hk. For work during a voyage, identify the sailing leg, embarkation and disembarkation arrangements and required personnel documents; port timing alone does not define the full plan.

  • Vessel or facility, location, ports, voyage or docking dates.
  • Requested task: specifications, supervision, inspection, systems investigation or other support.
  • Drawings, inspection records, equipment lists and fault descriptions.
  • Report purpose, required outputs and credentials, and owner, yard or surveyor requirements.
